INTERVIEW

EM: Looking ahead, what changes or improvements
          do you envision implementing?
ACB: It’s still a little too early to share concrete initiatives,
but one thing is already crystal clear to me—something
Sandra also emphasized: innovation and trendspotting
are the beating heart of these events. Everything
we do must reinforce and amplify that focus. I saw
this firsthand at MakeUp in NewYork. The IT Awards,
the trend workshops, the conferences—all of these
moments generated genuine excitement among visitors
and brands. My goal is to ensure that every edition
continues to deliver answers to the industry’s pressing
questions, while offering exclusive previews of the most
groundbreaking innovations from our exhibitors. And
of course, I’ll continue to nurture the intimate yet highly
professional atmosphere that makes MakeUp in events
          so distinctive and memorable.

EM: Do you plan to expand the range of sectors
represented at the MakeUp in shows? ASMAA CHERRAF-BONNEVILLE,
ACB: That’s an excellent question—and in fact, it DIRECTOR OF THE MAKEUP IN
was one of the first topics Sandra and I discussed. TRADE SHOWS
While walking through the booths in New York, I
noticed that hair care was strongly represented,
even though it hasn’t yet been fully reflected in our because in reality it’s been 17 incredible years—years
communications. Exhibitors and speakers alike were filled with invaluable experiences and unforgettable
already showcasing it. So one of my priorities will be encounters. The very first of those was with Jean-Yves
to officially open the door to such key market trends— Bourgeois. We complemented each other perfectly,
like hair care right now—and to continue promoting combining our talents, passion, and energy to create
the hybridization we see between skincare and events that are now essential within the industry.
makeup. These evolutions reflect what’s happening in Together, we helped countless companies grow, thrive,
the industry, and it’s important that MakeUp in stays and gain international visibility—and that’s something
perfectly aligned with them. I am extremely proud of. None of it would have been
possible without the trust of our partners: those who
EXPORT MAGAZINE: One final question for you, believed in us from the beginning, those who followed
Sandra. If you had to summarize your 15 years us across the globe, and those who remain loyal today.
serving the beauty industry through MakeUp in, To all of them, a heartfelt thank you. And to Asmaa, I
what would your message be? wish nothing but tremendous success. I know she will
SANDRA MAGUARIAN: It’s very moving to look back, take MakeUp in even further.
